First bag had one rotten bulb. Not one to complain. I have ordered 4 bags. They just look appear not fresh is all but I grind three bulbs and put olive oil on then in quart jar and garlic infuses oil and put the said garloc on food plate and drink the oil by shot glass. I use so many bulbs that one rotten balb is collateral damage.

Fresh and plump cloves. So good I ordered a 2nd bag. The second bag ~mediocre. 1/3 of the 2nd bag went to the compost pile. I won’t take a chance and order again. After receiving bad garlic on 2 orders I decided to call Christopher Ranch directly. Great people. They said if it’s sprouting and any rotten it’s been sitting for months. If it has a zip tie then it’s being refilled with either other not rotten yet from another bag or from China cheap garlic. The plastic clip has the date on it from Christopher Ranch. The only place Christopher Ranch suggests going to for their fresh garlic is Garlic World dot com. So I’m trying that route. Just ordered a 5 lb box for $30. Ant wait to taste the difference as I believe I’ve been getting stuff that should have been tossed. Thanks for listening.

Love Gilroy garlic, so big. I usually cut them in half, bake 400 degrees for 40 minutes with oil, salt, and pepper. When I take them out I pluck out the carlic pieces and put them on buttered toast🤤. So good.

I am very happy with the fresh garlic I received from Kejora. I needed garlic shipped to me in lockdown. I did not need two pounds or more as offered from other shippers. The six bulbs that I ordered arrived quickly and in excellent condition. The garlic is top quality and flavorful.

Cloves arrived in poor quality. Packaging was smashed, some of the cloves are squished, aside from that, some of the cloves have already started to sprout, are dried up, and nothing I would expect to produce a decent crop next year.

I ordered these bulbs back in March for a spring planting, and was astounded when the germination rate was very near 100%. I just lifted that crop and the bulbs were quite large for my rock, clay North Carolina soil. So, of course, I ordered again for a fall planting. The new bulbs came in two days, and they look even healthier than the ones I received in the spring. I can’t wait to get them in the ground!!

Update: To the Amazon Produce Buyers -the garlic I received with my 11/12/2021 order was beautiful and just perfect -it was fresh and the size, color, texture, and taste were just wonderful. Please check my order and try to determine where that most amazing garlic may have come from and praise that farmer. I tasted some raw before cooking because it was just so amazing and the flavor was very strong in a very pleasant way. That is the way garlic should be most of the time (obviously, not every crop is going to be a winner like that but that should be the general standard). I’ll add one star because of the 11/12 garlic, but you need to step up and improve quality control the rest of the year.

Original older post: This last time I received thee garlic bulbs that were about half their normal size -I order this regularly. Oh, well. You can’t win them all -nature determines stuff and the farmers can’t always control everything, especially when organic and non-gmo. So, I’ll tolerate it this time. I will say that this is usually decent. The garlic is typically strong/flavorful and reasonably fresh. Sometimes I get some bad spots that I cut out or even entire cloves that are mushy or dried out total throw aways, but mostly this is good. You definitely want to stick with organic garlic. Whenever possible, i buy only organic garlic.

I placed my order for this garlic after I had already planted some other types. The bulb size was awesome. They were in great condition and there were a lot of cloves to each bulb. I kept some of the smaller ones to cook now. I was very surprised at the taste. It was more potent than any other I’ve tried and it had a bit of a kick too. I can’t wait to see how well they grow here in Massachusetts.

The garlic I usually buy was unavailable and this looked like the next best choice. I was a little disappointed in a couple of the bulbs; they weren’t as robust as the others. However I planted them (48 plantable cloves) and the proof will be next spring. I did get more plantable cloves than I would have for the same money. Hopefully this will bring another bumper crop.

I like this brand & have had it in the past. It usually is very fragrant, fresh, flavorful, tight bulbs with large cloves. I’ve had bad experiences with buying this garlic online as of late. Unfortunately, for me, this is my only option in obtaining this product. I’d tried it via a friend a few times & finally decided to buy my own. The first time, I bought it here & it was majority great. It had some bad bulbs & cloves but, overall was a good haul. The second time, I bought from another site that batch WAS HORRIFIC. Bugs infested rotted,, moldy, TINY bulbs was the whole batch. I couldn’t bring myself to even try & find a few salvageable cloves. The third & most recent bag I bought, brought me back to the first bag I bought which was from here. Ironically, from same seller. This bag though, wasn’t as bad as the second bag but, CERTAINLY was NOT NEARLY as good as the first. I am so disappointed because I still have to wait on the garlic (money reasons) & be without. This means, I have to try AGAIN, to buy at a later date with hopes of a better harvest to be sold to me. However, the seller of the first & third bags is great. Their communication & promptness in addressing the matters is almost stellar. I am hoping that I can try one last time with them in hopes of getting the great quality I once WAS familiar with. These arectypica for what you get at the store in size. Quite a lot of them were bad at the ends so just had to cut off. Qould be nice to know what this variety is if I want to plant in Central missouri. I know these don’t appear to be hard neck type because there’s no central stem. There are quite a few tiny cloves indicating they were picked before their peak.

Since when did all the garlic in the grocery stores come from China? What’s going on? This product is grown in the United States. I don’t think we should have to get out of garlic from China too. We grow our own garlic but because we don’t have a root cellar (and use it in everything) we inevitably run out about 6 months after harvest. I refuse to buy Chinese garlic – way too many reports of heavy metals, banned pesticides and industrial waste turning up in Chinese produce. I thought I’d try two bags from Christopher Ranch this spring to tide us over until July, as it’s grown in California. This garlic is pungent, has just the right amount of heat vs. flavor, and can be peeled fairly easily for a softneck. I used up one bag pretty quickly; as a test I left the other bag on the countertop at room temperature and the heads lasted a good 4 months before they started to deteriorate. At that point, I froze what was left, and it’s not turned bitter after thawing. In short, it’s the next best thing if you don’t live near Gilroy! (The garlic capital.)

I purchased these for growing but found these to be the same garlic bulbs in the markets for eating. I ordered garlic from photo of bagged garlic clearly labeled as grown in California. I received loose garlic in a box wrapped in newspapers of a foreign language with no indication that this is grown in the United States. There is absolutely no garlic odor coming from the product. I don’t know how it will taste as I’m afraid to eat it not knowing where it came from.

I am a bit of a foodie, love to cook and use a lot of garlic. Tired of inferior product we are seeing in the stores was excited to find Gilroy Garlic by a respected name. I was even more excited when I received two packages and the tag stated it was packed on April 19, 2021.

The excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I started peeling the bulbs and found that every one of them had sprouted. Sprouts are a sign that garlic is starting to go bad and the fact that anyone would sell this and package it as it was fresh is very disturbing.

It’s one reason I love Amazon and quickly went on line to do a return and in this case they do not allow returns. Buy at your own risk as I was just ripped off for two pounds of garlic that has to go in the trash.

Bought last September. Kept in very dry, dark, room temperature storage. The left over 1 lb (out of 4) is rotten through and through. Next time I’m just buying 2 lbs so that it will last. Good garlic, just too much of it to store for a year.

This great garlic… as you would expect wight he Gillroy appellation. The problem is I can’t get good garlic in Florida. Flying four pounds of garlic coast-to-coast just for me, does not seem a very sustainable act. Kinda makes me feel like a right-wing climate denier. But, man is this garlic good.

Garlic bulbs just thrown in a shipping box loose. No packaging and no indication they were from California. I was not happy. Picture shows bulbs in a bag, clearly marked. Some cloves were bad, but most good.

I have been buying the two pound fresh garlic USA California Heirloom Gilroy’s finest every few months for some time. But this is the first time I have purchased it and when I opened the box and then the plastic bag, the garlic felt damp and some of it was moldy.

I’m a garlic nut! Got tired of buying that garbage from China. Love Christopher Ranch garlic. A good value. I store the bags (usually order 2) in a dark pantry. The garlic keeps very well. Try grilling it – delish!

You won’t want to, but sucking on a clove of garlic like a lozenge will help your throat and your infection. Garlic contains allicin, a powerful antibiotic, which helps it kill viruses and bacteria. Pop in a raw clove as soon as you feel a tickle in your throat to ward off infection before it takes hold, she instructs. Keep it in as long as you can stand.

I place quinoa, frozen peas in a pot, add water and tomato paste. I sauté lots of onion separately then in ten minutes I add paprika, cumin, dill weed, gram marsala, crushed red pepper, turmeric and lots of crushed Christopher Ranch garlic, mix it well and add the mix to the pot and let it sit without heat for five minutes. Christopher Ranch garlic is almost tasteless. While you can add more garlic, the taste is still going to be bland. The garlic sold tends to go bad very quickly, so a only buy this if you’re intimidated by flavorful garlic and planning on losing a lot of bulbs.

These garlic are very fresh and lasts long. Tastes great. I use them for garlic butter salted garlic bread. They taste great very fresh as roasted garlic too. Some pieces are chunky and some were smaller, but the garlic butter oven baked on crossaint were so yummy, I made more to eat. Great with fried noodles and sautéed chicken in soy sauce, ketchup and honey water. Great as a toast rub too. Very pungent.

I buy this garlic regularly and it normally arrives super fresh. Tastes great in a variety of meals. A great addition to soups, eggs, bread, etc.

These are fresh and pack a good flavor, as garlic should, but just be aware that the bulbs are pretty tiny.

This garlic is not very substantial..small cloves, not many. When I pick my own loose garlic, it comes in larger heads and more “to it.” Hard to complain about garlic, but it does seem like taking advantage of home shoppers to only have these sort of meager choices. However..I am grateful that they have any products at all..let alone deliver them.

They aren’t always fresh. I’ve had them with mold under the skin. If they are fresh though, they’re great.

These tasted fine. But the heads of garlic were encased in many layers of dried skin and the cloves had a thick skin around each of them, making them a lot of work to get to the flavor. I’ve had heads of garlic from other sources that were twice the size for the same cost and with equal or better flavor. I hope that this is just a result of the drought in California and that Christopher Ranch’s excellent reputation isn’t harmed by this crop of garlic.

Yeah sure price wise it seemed pretty good u til you receive the products and try to use it. Product itself looks fresh and good however these garlic are so small it’s hard to peel or roast or whatever you try to do. I stop buying these and shackle a dollar more and get a decent sized garlics to make my life easier.

Not particularly outstanding in any way. Just mild flavored, not a great or bad price, not the freshest but not rotten either.

Like other reviewers, I was not too surprised at the size (small!) of the 3 bulbs/heads in the mesh bag. What prompted this minimum review is that each individual clove from one head is so TINY! It takes 4 or 5 cloves from this Christopher Ranch garlic (seen on left in photo) to equal 1 clove of standard/normal garlic (seen on the right in photo). I have better ways to spend my life than peeling the skin off 5 cloves of garlic instead of one.

You can’t really judge size from a picture. Recipes call for normal sized cloves. I have learned to be very careful when shopping on line. I still receive items that are much smaller than normal way too often.

I bought it and it was the only thing in the whole bag. It cost me an extra $0.08 for the bag when they could have added it to one of the other bags of grocery. And they say they are for climate change. Not at this rate they are not.

Each head is slightly bigger than a quarter. Perfectly fine garlic but wow its tiny. Like smaller than a shallot.

The garlic bulbs are rather small.

These three bulbs put together are about the size of one garlic bulb I’d buy from the grocery store.

Three heads of garlic, and upon tearing the mesh, I had to throw away a whole head, plus half of the second, because it was old, dry, and dusty. These garlic cloves/heads are smaller. I have no problem with that. My problem is that it’s anything but fresh! I would never buy this again. At least, not through Amazon Fresh.

Not fresh. One of the cloves was rotted through. A lot of the other cloves had rot spots. It takes a lot to have garlic go bad so these three bulbs must have been very old.

I have purchased these twice and they are dry as dirt inside and very brown.

Arrived sprouting and smelling like farts, totally garbage flavor compared to the garlic I get from co-op or fresh thyme.

These heads were SO small and I mean small. The size of a smaller walnut. I bought 2 packs for cooking, but when I saw the size, I was like “I’m not peeling 16 cloves of garlic for a tsp. Ended up just cutting the tops off, putting a bit of olive oil on them in a small covered baking dish and roasted them. Even that was a pain. Won’t buy again.

Some of the garlic bulbs were very old and crumbled with horns…They were not picked out for freshness.

Received the garlic. I could not find any where in the description that the garlic was imported from Mexico. However, on the bag, clearly states it is a product of Mexico.

They all sprouted, but I will have to wait until next summer to say much more.

My first and most likely my last Amazon Fresh produce order. Product photos advertise a higher grade of garlic heads than those received with my order. Over the top cost for quality of product received. If you are going to charge top prices you had better deliver top quality. Wal*Mart had much better garlic this morning for 20% of this garlic’s delivered cost. No thanks, I will drive and shop local next time.

My garden was prepped for the garlic. Planted at proper time. The garlic only produced two stocks. I have gardened for years, never had such a crop failure Very disappointing!

Every clove of all four bulbs was sprouting a green shoot, which meant in order to use, each clove had to cut open and the green sprout removed. This is NOT easy with arthritic hands. I was NOT a happy camper!

I have planted 50 cloves. It’s been over two weeks. None of it is growing. NONE. I will update my review once I see at least one. Still nothing after three weeks. I wish I could give them -1000.

The garlic has the root base cut off. You can’t grow them without this. I would never pay so much for unplantable garlic. Waste of money for sterile bulbs.

This is not hardneck garlic. It will not survive overwinter in a climate where hardneck garlic is required (zone 5).

I planted this garlic in the fall and harvested it during the spring. It did great!!! In fact, out of all of my garlic and onions, this was the most successful. Delicious, bigger bulbs, stayed up and alive through the whole winter in my zone 7b garden.

Be sure, with hard neck garlic, to harvest the scapes for eating. They’re a delicacy! And after you harvest the scapes, let the bulbs stay in the ground and grow for another couple of weeks. That’s when they’ll get their big growth spurt and will be ready to harvest soon after!

I never had groceries delivered before COVID-19. It turned out to be so great! I haven’t had a single problem with ANY of the produce I’ve ordered, be it from amazon fresh or wholefood. It seems like the shoppers & delivery folks do a thoughtful job. I feared the prices would be higher than my usual store, but it’s really a variety – some are the same, some slightly higher, & (to a lesser degree), some a lot higher. It just seems to depend on the item. Which makes sense to me. And as a prime member, no delivery fee! I was more than happy to tip & on check-out, a tip amount is recommended, but not mandatory. You also have the option of selecting your own amount, higher or lower.

My number one go to ingredient for most of my meals.

This is a very good garlic I used for cooking. It was fresh, and very tasteful. I use this in many of my foods. I must add, however, that this particular batch was much smaller in size. Overall, great.

Quite frequently the middle bulb is not good. Mushy or moldy just depends.

Its good flavorful garlic and I am a true garlic lover and use it in most of my cooking. The only thing I disagree with is the listing states “Delicious on their own as a healthy snack or as part of a recipe”. Personally, I don’t know of anyone who eats garlic for a snack. Perhaps someone enjoys it that way, but not me.

It was great when I first received. The flavor and texture are to the point. Unfortunately it went bad within just a couple of days. It started to sprout (and yes you can eat sprouted garlic and its sprout, and those are all very nutritious) and I wonder how fresh it was when received.

The bottom of the garlic was turning black. I tossed it in the garbage as soon as I opened the bag. Didn’t take a picture. Will do so next time.

I bought 8 bags 3 bulbs each. The bulbs are not very big.

I used 1 bag immediately for salsa same day of delivery. 1 bulb had some dry cloves, 2 bulbs had squishy wet brown cloves. many cloves in the 3 bulbs were still useable.

I’ve tentatively felt the bulbs in the remaining 7 bags and it seems I may end up with similar situation where some cloves are nasty, but some seem hopeful.

This is the first time I purchased a sac of garlic and received perfect, fresh garlic with every bulb. In the past, when purchasing in a sac, there was always old shriveled garlic bulbs thrown in…NOT with Whole Foods, every single bulb was fresh and deliciojus.

When fresh batch is delivered, perfectly fine. However, half the time, we get spoiled batch. It’s a bit of a hit or miss, so we tend to just opt for the non-organic ones to avoid hassle of refund/waiting for another order.

These are very small bulbs and have a consistently poor shelf life.

Amazon needs to find a supplier in Gilroy, CA where they grow REAL garlic for garlic lovers.

I buy this garlic sometimes for convenience. They taste better and authentic to me. More flavor and florence. But just tiny and expensive.

The heads were noticeably smaller that the conventionally grown ones in the supermarket. Supposedly, they are organic because they did not last long before going limp and starting to brown out. Use them up within two weeks of purchase if you can.

One of the three heads of garlic was rotten. It happens, I’m not miffed about it, but it should not have been placed into the delivery bin if it wasn’t good to eat. Other two were good to go and tasted fine.

Haven’t seen a single vampire since these arrived. That cannot be a coincidence. Will update my review if anything changes.

Whenever I have bought these I have been disappointed to find that mold and rot seems to be a problem. You’re basically paying for 3 bulbs but most of the time you’re only getting 1… maybe 2, if you’re “lucky.”

I am 43 years old and had not seen a garlic go bad until now. I had seen them sprout, or dry over time, but never go bad and moldy. Apparently they can! within one week of purchase, on the kitchen benchtop (where I always keep my garlics), they became spoiled and moldy. and I had to throw them all out. such a bad experience from Whole Foods.

Not fresh, not even close. The tiny bulb opened up has all brown dried out cloves! Please see the pics. This was the 1st time I ordered these and will be the last.

When I peel them, has weird brown spots on them. Maybe was not stored properly or was too old.

These garlic bulbs are almost the size of a regular clove. Don’t bother ordering.

Ordered this for delivery and was extremely dissappointed. The garlic was all broken up upon delivery – no bulbs!

I ordered garlic from the same seller but got two different quality. The first set I gave 5 stars, but the second set I bought I’ll give 3 stars for at least having the roots compared to the ones that come from China. The second batch did come packaged in the mesh package that the China garlic usually comes in. On the contrary, the first batch came lose and before I could open the package, my mail box smelled like garlic, so I knew it was garlic before I even opened the package. The first bacth had an aroma that reminded me of the good old days when you could still smell the garlic on your hands even after washing them several times after handling the garlic. Not that I wanted the smell to linger that long, but at least knew it was organic. That said, I was so excited and pleased with my first batch that I eagerly ordered my second batch which disappointed me; because even when I had the garlic touching my nose, I could not smell it, even though I paid roughly $8 for six individual bulbs. Shocking, I know! Meanwhile, the first batch got my kitchen smelling real good. And, yes, i love the smell of garlic, especially when it mixes with certain other spices; but I’m aware others may not like the lingering smell as much. So, for my good old fashioned garlic lovers, you could take the risk to try this seller and hope that you get a really good first batch like I did. Otherwise, good luck with your hunt for some good ole fashion strong organic garlic. Hope my review at least helped one more curious or indecisive buyer.

Nice fresh, full, plump bulbs and ready for planting. Very nice looking garlic. Looks like I paid for six bulbs but only got four. To bad. It would have been five stars if seller would have done what they said.

1st ones I got were fine this one was like old and not very potient. I have to cut and chew them so I don’t get bit by mesquitoes here in my sleep. I had to throw half of these away. Outsides were almost black in places and the insides were yellow. Not pearly white like normal. Thank goodness mesquitoes are almost gone for another year. They we’re so bad (the mesquitoes) that the City even had to let go of a bunch of bats to get rid of them!

This garlic is so good my wife was eating it and one moment she is talking to me in English and the next she is on the phone speaking Chinese. Wow… how could you learn Chinese so fast… and to top it off, she is speaking Chinese. Is it possible, since she came from China, she always knew how and was sharing this secret with other Chinese women… Darn Garden Spy!!!

I received some garlic that didn’t have the purple tinge I was expecting. So I contacted them and a new batch was sent out immediately!

This product came in looking fresh and it takes like a good garlic.

The reason for this was to plant it for spring harvest, it’s the first time for me and I have no idea how it will grow but I’m hopeful. I got about 60 cloves planted and will let you know what happens in the spring. Great value for the product. Thanks.

Just received fast replacement of fresh, large garlic heads. Complained to seller that items originally rec’d were old and unacceptable. Received an apology and quick replacement. The garlic is delicious. So nice not to have to go to the store to buy this. Garlic is a staple in cooking.

I’ve ordered twice now and these are very fresh, never a hint of mold… I’m not sure how others have gotten such bad batches. I’m here to. report these are outstanding.

I planted most of the cloves from these bulbs as a winter crop of garlic to harvest next spring. Almost everyone came up. The two bulbs I didn’t plant, we ate, and they were a delicious flavor.

I received 6 fresh garlic bulbs in the mail very quickly, they look to be best of the crop and better than what you find in the store. Garlic Smelled so good I wanted to eat them plain before using for cooking I highly recommend!

They were all fresh and I even got an extra garlic head in my bag that wasn’t in the netted bag! Win win. The cloves were perfect and large too. I will buy these again!

I thought I was following the planting directions but they stayed wet too long and went bad. I’m having to order more and try again. A bit annoying.

I just received my garlic today only to open my package and see the garlic bag covered in black mold, i dont believe theres not one clove let alone bulb thats salvageable and of course its unable to be returned. Definitely will not be purchasing their product again and highly recommend you dont as well.

Doesn’t look like the photo – all white, some have brownish stain. When you peel it to pull off a nice fat clove, it turns out every large clove is just a bunch of little ones and you have to peel them all separately.

I was so excited to see this garlic available as I had bought some earlier this year similar to it and it was so crisp and potent. I received these and cracked them open only to find them wet and ruined from the inside of the bulb. Every one that we tried to peel open also had similar look of wet insides that were browned. Disappointed as we were hoping to grow some this fall. I love eating the green garlic from this strand as well. Super crisp and garlicky.

I planted about 25-30 and only 6 sprouted.

No instructions were included or any identification as to what type of garlic these were supposed to be. I couldn’t tell if they were hard neck or soft neck. Planted them next to my berries in some mulch. Not a single one of them sprouted. Every single strawberry plant thrived so I am sure it wasn’t the soil. (Corn, beans and cucumbers all did fine, too.) Not impressed at all.

These were sold to me as organic garlic bulbs, but they did NOT taste nor look anything even close to organic garlic bulbs! They were abnormally round and huge, SO artificial in appearance. I was very disappointed that these were sold to me as organic, and the actual label on them didn’t even say ‘organic’ on it either. I use organic garlic for health problems, so being sold something that was labeled deceptively was a huge bummer.

Planted the cloves in garden beds, almost 95% germination rates. I tried using cheap white garlic from the store and only got about 35% germination rates. This grew faster too.

Garlic was old, breaking apart and starting to stem, not fresh at all. Do not recommend

I bought these garlic heads for planting in my garden. I split the heads up into the cloves and I’m waiting for the right timing to plant them in fall. But a couple of them have already started to sprout so they seem good quality. No rot anywhere, and the cloves are nice and big!

The garlic is growing in the third (from the bottom) raised garden bed. They’re doing great. I guess I’m supposed to dry them after harvesting. In the meantime, the greens that grow up taste amazing, like garlic but more herbaceous. Great for salads or salad dressing. I know some folks have gotten garlic that’s moldy or whatever, but, you know, we’re dealing with living food here. It’s always going to be a bit hit-and-miss.

The products were carefully wrapped and boxed. They arrived fresh and ready to use.

I have been to Gilroy in person and love the taste of fresh garlic. The stuff sold in many supermarkets does not compare! Most of the time I am completely thrilled with my order. However, I have had a couple of shipments that were a bit older and drier heads. Could use a little better quality control, but I will continue to buy this product since it is still better than my local source.

This is Christopher Ranch Garlic but sold by another vendor. The bag looked like it had been tossed around a lot and was full of skins and loose cloves to the point that I couldn’t actually see the bulbs when I first unpacked the product. Once opened and sorted through the mess I found the bulbs firm with about 1/4 of them missing cloves. All of the loose cloves were still viable and placed in my garlic container. The rest of the bulbs were cleaned of remaining loose skin and replaced in bag. Christopher Ranch has the best garlic but would never have shipped a product in this condition. In the future I will buy directly from them and know that I am getting the freshest and best product possible.

In the mid-west during the Winter and Spring seasons (and perhaps most other parts of the country) finding good garlic can be awfully illusive. Most of the garlic from the latest crops is getting old and the best bulbs are already digested, and harvesting the next fresh garlic is months away. I went searching on Amazon hoping that there would be a seller who had decent garlic that wasn’t either dried or spoiling. The first seller I tried, the garlic came mostly spoiled and inedible. So I tried this seller. I received a two pound bag of fresh, but very small bulbs of garlic. I won’t complain too much, though, because supermarket garlic is just awful tasting. This garlic was not, even if the cloves were very small. Overall, I would buy from this seller again.

The Garlic was very disappointing. I didn’t return because the garlic was usable however there are frequent bad spots on it, and clearly the garlic is old enough that the peals fall right off. NOT fresh at all. I will try to buy one more time and if I get the same thing I will not be buying again.

Exactly the right size and a goodly number. Each bulb contains at least 15 cloves. Ideal size for my uses.

I appreciate that the garlic is grown here according to USA standards and not subjected to some unsavory treatments to garlic that is done in some countries. One complaint I might have is that the garlic may be older than I like because some cloves are starting to sprout or have become brown.

I also contacted the seller: our Amazon seller lives next door to the garlic ranch. He steps outside and walks next door to pick up his garlic as it is harvested!

And this awesome garlic shipped well, too, from CA to NM 🙂 .

I’ve got a trick where I don’t eat the full garlic cloves, I cut the bottom parts (by roots) off and plant in a pot. Real soon, there’s greens and smells nice and fresh, warns off flying insects when screen door opens, and I snip the greens like chives or green onions for salads.

This garlic is soooooooooo much tastier than traditional softneck commercial CA garlic 🙂 !

Not for long term storage. After two weeks, several cloves had brown rotting bits.

I used to live in Salinas CA, right next to Gilroy. I bought garlic there…fresh, not this dried up, beat up bag of NOT fresh garlic. Roots all dries up. Skins falling off. Brown meat inside…buyer beware! Can buy the same thing in grocery store for less. Just grow your own is my solution!

This was a disappointing purchase. Even when I first received them most or many of the cloves in every head I have cracked open have brown spots or are completely bad. Having come from Gilroy, California, in what I would think would be a prime time of year for harvesting, midsummer, it should’ve been fresh.

I was nervous to order this, as I had purchased garlic (from another company) that was absolutely horrid, and we all know that nasty garlic in our grocery stores. This garlic has been fresh and tasty. Half gone and will be ordering more. So far, I have had only one clove that was dried up and brown. And that’s going through half of a bag. I say it’s a ‘win’.

This is a decent product, average size cloves, average freshness, well just average i guess. When i ordered i envisioned a beautiful just dug crop, oversized and potent. What i got was an average product grown in the usa. Not totally disappointed but ive been given heads of garlic from weekend gardeners that put these heads to shame.

you will Not get what you pay for with these small bulbs with tiny hard to peel cloves. at 25.00 for 2 pounds i was expecting something special, but was disappointed. for 25 dollars at walmart i could have bought 8 pounds of large bulbs. this will not happen again there should be a minus 5 stars available. i feel ripped off but live and learn.

I have ordered garlic form this same source many times and sad to say this was not the quality I have received in the past. Many of the garlic heads we soft and black and others had dark marks on them. Had to dispose of way to many. Sorry.

2nd time ordering this garlic.. we use a lot of garlic and it’s hard to find USA grown in my area.. These last awhile. I just put them in a glass jar on my counter or in the pantry. Haven’t had bad ones. Love the flavor.

My first impression was disappointment because the bag was half full and the postal stamp read “12 ounces”.

However when I weighed the bag, it was exactly 2 lbs.

You need to hurry and open up the packaging and spread your garlic heads apart. Maybe they had a tough shipment and got cooked and roughly handled. At any rate, enough of this lovely garlic remained to make me happy. It was packaged in 3 layers of postal envelopes to mask the smell but perhaps it should have been in a box to prevent smashing. Add the fresh ones to a large dark container and enjoy for months to come. Cauliflower never had it so good tossed with with olive oil, red pepper flakes, and 1/2 to 1 whole head of garlic roasted at 400 for 30 minutes or so!

Purchased wrong time of year, harvest is in fall. small heads some dried out, but it’s cheaper than the 1.00 I’ve been paying at the store.

Not the freshest garlic that I have ordered online so far I will go back to Country Creek Acres for my future purchases and use this up as quick as possible! Having moved to Kentucky from the Central Valley, I let the name Gilroy garlic pull me in I don’t believe this came directly from Christopher Ranch ,although that is the brand name, I believe it was purchased and sold third party.

I ordered TWO of these and only rec’d ONE. Reached out to seller twice and got absolutely no response. Had to file a claim with Amazon to get resolved. Now what I got seems good, but seller needs to be responsive to issues.

Thought coming from CA would be good? These are the Smallest cloves I’ve ever seen. However I baked them in EVOO and smelled & tasted good! They’re little so you’ll have to put five together to make one Reg sized garlic clove from your grocer. Very disappointing and would Not recommend.

OMG I don’t think I am going to buy garlic from the store any longer. I’m actually growing my own garlic from what was in this 2 lb. bag but for this first year I am considering ordering another 2 lbs. just for eating because this garlic is really freaking wonderful !! They weren’t kidding when they said “Gilroy’s finest”…then again I also ordered right before the Garlic Festival too which probably means I got some awesome garlic.

All my bulbs arrived fresh, not brown or rotted like some of the reviews I read. Not sure about the price, I think it’s kinda high but, maybe that’s what the going rate is for real garlic grown in the U.S.A. Come to think about it, I did pay $3.99 for 3 bulbs of “organic” garlic from Walmart.

These pods were uniform and firm. There wasn’t one head or clove that wasn’t fresh. I was very pleases, because I used it to make black fermented garlic. It came out perfectly! Sweet,soft and tasty. I will be ordering more soon because I ended up giving some of the black garlic to my friends!

Very fresh! I knew I couldn’t go wrong with Gilroy area’s garlic. I used half of the bag, then when it started sprouting, I found ways to preserve the rest of it in the freezer online. I will purchase again and again.

Whole bag was rotted not a single good clove. Avoid this!! Certainly not fresh. Not fit for consumption. Not fit for planting.

I can’t speak to flavor because I haven’t used them for cooking yet, but unlike others, mine were perfect. I received 5 bulbs as advertised and they all were in excellent condition. I bought these to plant as spring garlic for pest control between my brassicas and I was actually very concerned they looked too good and thought maybe they’d been sprayed with a sprout inhibitor to keep them from sprouting. But that was not the case and all the cloves I planted a few weeks ago have come up! I would definitely purchase again as the seed garlic of the same variety I planned on purchasing is much more expensive.

Members of the same plant family, garlic and onions do so many things for your heart and immune system, it’s hard to list them all. Garlic’s 70 active phytochemicals may decrease high blood pressure by as much as 30 points, and it lowers rates of ovarian, colorectal, and other cancers, according to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Onions are the single best source of quercitin, a flavonoid shown to keep your blood healthy and prevent clots. Both are must-haves for natural allergy prevention. To boost garlic’s health effects, be sure to crush the cloves and let them stand for up to 30 minutes before heating them. Most of an onion’s nutrition is in the skins, so putting the skins in a mesh bag and allowing them to steep in soups or sauces or in my case leaving it in vinegar. I buy these beauties of Monviso CA Heirloom Garlic all the time with bold nutty flavor which is the only commercially grown Heirloom variety in US, founded in 1956 by Don Christopher, the largest fresh garlic grower in the nation, packing some 70 million pounds of these beauties each year. It is so hot and tasty that although I eat a clove every single night, I can never consume any as is unless crushed and mixed with tomatoes for my delicious omelets after my heavy workouts since it will pain my mouth, otherwise I never cook with garlic. To keep the four pound bag fresh, I remove the bulbs from the clove, leave only the one outer layer of the skin on the bulb, and place it in the best CA UNFILTERED EVOO with spices. I use EVOO in all my foods and every night I take out few bulbs, remove the outer layer skin easily and enjoy the strong, tone down taste of the garlic bulb with my food without worrying about my garlic inventory since I insure to have quite few pounds of these beauties laying in EVOO inside jars in refrigerator, a month before consumption. I never heat the garlic since heat kills nutritional value of any food. After cruising through the seed catalogs for garlic to plant and finding either sold out or a big price for two heads of garlic, I found TWO POUNDS on Amazon. We planted them and they are already up 5″ tall. I can’t wait until harvest. For anyone wanting to plant garlic, this is the best price. The garlic heads were large with large cloves, best deal ever!

I hoped for really nice Garlic . it is nice Garlic , but very small . mine from the Garden is bigger . the taste is great but they are really tiny , almost not worth the time to peel . went the same day they arrived to the store and got much nicer and bigger garlic for about 1/5 of the price . So , to bad but you don’t know until you try .
